HAPPY CINCO de MAYO DAY... kind of bitter sweet as being both a French and Spanish teacher, it pains me that France lost so many soldiers in the defeat and it encourages me that Mexico used its strength in small numbers to defend their beloved country. My Spanish I students once again outdid themselves and prepared such delicacies as <<arroz con pollo>>, <<taquitos>>, <<enchiladas>>, <<tres leches pastel>>, << torta de chocolate>>, <<gazpacho>>, etc. We had such a wonderful time!!

French III spends several weeks exploring Francophone literature, e.g, literature from North America, Europe, Africa, etc. We have just completed a series of stories from Frissons et chair de poule. Our American counterpart would be Goosebumps,a familiar book for teens. At our <<boum canadienne>> today, students made authentic Canadian recipes such as: une tourtière (pork pie), des tartes de beurre (butter tarts), des poutines (french fries with gravy and cheese sauces), une tarte au syrope (maple syrup pie) et une salade canadienne. We listened to authentic Canadian music as we dined Canadian style.
